Indian historical epic drama film titled "Ponniyin Selvan" is
being produced by famous director Mani Ratnam. The film is based on
Kalki Krishnamurthy's popular identical-titled Tamil novel, which is regarded
as a classic of Tamil literature.
The movie's
plot is on the life of crown prince Arulmozhivarman, also known as Ponniyin
Selvan, during the Chola dynasty in the tenth century. Political intrigue,
conspiracies, and war serve as a backdrop for the drama as several groups
inside the kingdom seek to grab control.
Popular
actors like Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha, and
Aishwarya Lekshmi play key roles in the ensemble cast of the film. The
soundtrack for the movie was written by A.R. Rahman, and Ravi Varman was in charge
of the photography.
The release
of "Ponniyin Selvan," which is anticipated to be a visual

second-highest-grossing Tamil film of all time, the second-highest-grossing
Indian film of all time, and the highest-grossing Tamil film of 2022. At the
16th Asian Film Awards, it was nominated for six categories, including Best
Film.
